Hub and I thought this place will be our future go-to spot for casual breakfast. Good food, great service, good pricing and lots to eat. They live up to their motto "A Lot for a Little". We both had eggs, sausage and home fries. Home fries are stand-out! Coffee cups were always kept hot and full. And for $7 (2 eggs, home fries, bacon/sausage/goetta, bread choice), they're the best thing going for breakfast!

Second time coming and we will not be back. Food was horrible. French toast was thin cold and tasteless. Syrup had no flavor. Bacon was so hard I could hardly eat it. The home fries are awesome though. Eggs were not over medium were raw and nasty. They don't even butter your toast. So inevitably cold toast comes out and you have to put butter on it. Besides the food the kicker was our awful waitress. She was frumpy, dirty looking, and lazy. She would not bring things all the way to who they belong too she would just set them at one end of the table and make us all pass it down. She never filled my husbands coffee even one time. But other waitresses did. However we did not complain and were very kind to her. Then came the bill. It was quite messy and it didn't really make a lot of sense. So my husband looked closely and realize that it didn't add up. The waitress was trying to stack a six dollar extra tip by putting the wrong amount in. When my husband confronted her that it didn't add up she got huffy with him then she added it up again herself but did it very quickly and said see it adds up. My husband said no that doesn't add up. And so he asked for the calculator to add it up himself and she took off and said let the other waitress take your money. My husband and added it up and again it was six dollars over. So he handed it to the other waitress she ended up and yes it was six dollars over. We wonder how many people this woman cheats on a regular basis. If you go there the very careful to add up your bill.

We lived around the corner from this spot for over a year without trying. One dreary Saturday morning while recovering from overdoing it on the cocktails we decided to dive right in. Ft. Wright Family Restaurant is exactly what you expect. A small, local joint with classic greasy spoon breakfast food and waitresses that you call you darlin. The home fries are awesome. Actual potatoes sauteed with butter and onions - just like my mom makes and best when drenched in ketchup. I typically get their omelettes - with my favorite being the ham and cheese. If you love cheese - this is the guy for you. I, personally after imbibing in too many stiff cocktails, like egg with my cheese so the way they do it here is just right. I give it 3 stars in a loving way. Mostly because I prefer takeout over dine in here, the options are pretty basic, and while it's good it doesn't blow you away. That being said, Ft. Wright Family Restaurant is always there when you need breakfast in a bind!

Been coming here for a couple of years now based on Yelp reviews. I like the neighborhood restaurant vibe. It's my go to sit down breakfast place. I'll also bring my daughter here if she works an all night shift. My regular breakfast here is the breakfast special with Goetta. Now about nine months ago I nearly gave up on the place but they got a different grill chef and the food quality is noticeably better. I love the hash browns here, they are chunky and greasy. The place isn't as famous as the nearby Anchor Grill, but it is brighter and the service is usually good. My only wish for the place is that it opened an hour earlier so I could have breakfast here more often. I can easily recommend it to someone visiting the area.

First place I ever ate in Kentucky 10 years ago, and still one of my favorites. Simple down home food, tasty, and plenty of it.

I've been finding something yummy to eat here for about the last 7 years. The atmosphere is somewhat a Greek themed greasy spoon if that makes any sense. (Waffle House meets "My Big Fat Greek Wedding") Prices are very reasonable for the food portions you receive. Although they have specials every day, and a not so shabby menu lineup I find myself ordering breakfast here more than anything regardless of the time of day. However, if you're looking for a monster of a double-decker sandwich I encourage you to look no further. These things have at least a pound or more of meat and other ingredients piled onto them. Most of the folks that work here have been around for quite some time and this always seems like a nice family establishment. If you haven't tried this place before and are looking for something better than many and different than most then this is the place to find it.

Great breakfast with great service and good prices. The home fries were nice and crispy and the goetta was awesome.

This place has great breakfast at very reasonable prices. I used to eat here many times per week when I was working at Huntington Bank. It's a little greasy though, so I am kind of glad that it isn't so convenient anymore. It is great breakfast food though.

Oh Kentucky, you'll never fail to amuse me with your down-home hilarity. The Fort Wright Family Restaurant is a surprisingly good value for its humble nature. It exudes a certain 1950s diner charm and has all the markings of those late, great highway establishments of yore. The food is cheap but very wholesome. I always opt for the gyro and the onion rings, which are a house specialty. I've never tried dessert, but if I did, I might feel tempted to break out into some noir dialogue with the waitresses. If you need a great place for lunch mixed with some interesting people watching, you can't do much better than this joint.

Inexpensive for such a large amount of food. Closest thing to a legit NY-style diner/deli that I've found in the area.

My favorite breakfast place in town, with good omelettes and great French toast. Prices have gone up recently, but its still good bang for the buck. Get there early on Sundays, because its packed after church.

Sometimes the simple things in life are the best, ya know? And it doesn't really get any more simple than FWFR. (Consequently, thats the name of my Chinese Swiffer knockoff brand) Just a simple, greasy spoon type of diner with very low prices and very high flavor. Credit cards are accepted (yay!), and it's really hard to go wrong with their menu. I had their special, Veal Parmesean (fancy!). It was very good, albeit a tiny bit small. Better than what I've had at some Italian restaurants. The rolls were fresh out of the oven, maybe slightly overdone, but very hot and delicious. The vegetables were so-so, had a school cafeteria kind of taste to them. The potatoes were definitely boxed, but the gravy on it? Out of this world. I don't know if it's boxed or homemade, but its amazing. My other diner companions got a burger, who commented it on being one of the best burgers she's ever had. Another got a gyro, who also gave it higher praise than most gyro's he's had in Greece. Really hard to go wrong there. Also, they have Cincinnati chili! I of course, had to try their spin on it. And ya know, their chili makes me shed a tear. It actually has an amazing taste to it, although the dog was a tad underdone. The problem is that as delicious as their chili is, it was a touch bland. There was a very good flavor there, but it was almost like they held back with the spices. I'm going to say it was a slightly subpar batch, because if they pump up the seasoning, they've got a winner on their hands. Still, hard to beat everything else. I'll definitely be back. Maybe I can have a hamburger and veal gyro covered in gravy?

Great breakfast food, good service, strong coffee... all you need for a fantastic Sat or Sun morning! Portions are large so come with an appetite or be prepared to have leftovers.

First time I went here I picked up sandwiches to go from this small family-style restaurant recently so I could enjoy an outdoor lunch at DeVou Park. I have to say, the double-decker turkey sandwich was so huge that I made nearly three meals out of it and a bag of chips. The place also offers plate lunches, burgers and other lunch and dinner fare. Haven't tried them, but the homemade pies are supposed to be excellent! It's located in a small strip center off the Kyles Lane exit off I-75. The prices are reasonable and parking is easy to find in the lot in front of the restaurant. On my initial visit, I noticed the smoking inside, but found out recently that there is a room to the left that is non-smoking. This time I had a roast beef with swiss, chips and iced tea. Still a big sandwich, so for a total of $7, that's pretty inexpensive!

It's a great friendly place for breakfast on a Saturday Morning. The food is cheap and the portions are plentiful. I've woken up from a long night out with friends only to go to this place and feel world's better. I love the home fires with cheese they do the trick the quickest and there is enough to take home and enjoy later on that day which I often do. The biscuits and gravy are plain awesome. I also like the fact that it is secluded enough to make you feel like you are in on some sort of secret. Try it and I guarantee that you won't be disappointed.

We ventured to Ft. Wright Family Restaurant in search of the next great diner. I was a little disappointed this wasn't a crusty old school diner, mostly because those are my fav. But rather one with plastic tables and chairs, the price is right playing on a tv from the 90's and a breakfast bar. Indeed, a diner. As soon as we entered we could tell that this place was a family run place. There were a ton of old timers and regulars alike. The staff was extremely smiley and our coffees were always filled to the brim. The first thing we noticed was the breakfast special: 2 eggs, meat, home fries toast and coffee for only $4.99. What a steal! We were craving omelets so we opted out. We both got the Western and one side of biscuits and gravy to share. The omelets were good, although one of the greasiest I have ever had. An instant stomach ache, but the bf said it was worth it. I stopped half way through and devoured the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was home made. Nice and peppery just the way I like it, with big chunks of sausage in it. The prices were on par or maybe a little above other diners in the arear at around $8 bucks for an omelet. I think our total was around $26 bucks including drinks and the side of biscuits and gravy. Overall a great family run breakfast joint to hit up if you are in the area.

Best little restaurant around. Especially if you like double decker sandwiches. My pic is from my ham and beef double decker.

My wife and I recently moved to this area from Cincinnati. Even living in a city like that with such a variety of food options, we never could really find that "small town diner". Fortunately we found that place! If you're looking for great diner food, good customer service and reasonable prices, this place is for you. Also, I highly recommend the bacon egg salad sandwich. You'll thank me later.

This restaurant is awesome. This is a clean establishment with a great small town diner feel. The waitresses are personable and they seem to have their regulars and for good reason. The food here no matter what I have had has always been on point. Ever since I have had the bacon and egg salad club its too hard to order anything else. I wish I didn't live so far from here because this would be one of my favorite spots to eat.

Plethora of napkins. Two, to be exact. They unfold to about the size of a tablecloth, which is GREAT! I had one whole leftover emergency napkin at the conclusion of the meal. My only complaint is they were the smooth kind of napkin and my preference leans toward something a little more porous and absorbent texture.

My wife and I went there a Saturday morning for breakfast. It wasn't a holiday weekend, just a normal day. There were four tables of people sitting there with no menus, water or silver ware. We seated ourselves and waited for about 10 minutes. No one even made eye contact with us. No greetings or "we'll be with you in a minute". We were totally ignored. We left and went 1/2 mile down the road to Big Boy on Kyles Lane, and got prompt and courteous service. Haven't been back to "Ft Wright Family Restaurant" ever since; have been back to Big Boy plenty of times. I've never been so totally ignored in all my life.

Always more food than anyone should eat! Breakfast reigns supreme. My only complaint is that they think Tabasco is how to cater to those of us who enjoy hot or spicy food.

First discovered this eatery by word of mouth from a co-worker. Went to sample...fell in food love with it. Wife and daughter are huge fans as well. Portions and tastes are both vast. Service is very homey and family friendly.

I think I've been spoiled by the sweet sweet pancakes at Sugar & Spice, so I'm a bit biased here. I went to Ft. Wright Family to try the place out after I read the reviews. I don't have much bad to say about it, but I don't have a ton of good to say about it either. We got in, got seated right away but the food came out a little slow considering there weren't many people there.. When it did come out, I wasn't blown away. I got the pancakes and they weren't anything fantastic. Not bad, but just sub par. If I had tried this place first I probably would have liked them much more. I'll probably go back at dinner time sometime to try that instead and review again at that time. The prices weren't bad either and the portions were good as well. I'll go back again, just not for breakfast.

Great food for very little money. Just a good old-fashioned diner. This isn't for you yuppie-types that prefer brightly lit, sterile environments. I recommend the country fried steak or the open-faced roast beef sandwich. Don't hesitate to try the daily special either.

A great diner to stop by and have breakfast any time of day, or one of their HUGE deli sandwiches!

Exactly what I expected - great service, good food, cozy atmosphere. The Ft. Wright Family Restaurant serves up classic diner food and does it well. I came here for the first time for breakfast this weekend with my parents who were in town and we all left full and happy. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and my wife ordered the hotcakes. Biscuits and gravy were good (maybe could've used a third biscuit instead of two, but I was starving). Hotcakes were huge and delicious. Overall, the food was very good, and overall experience was great. We will be back :).

This place is a must! I was so hungry and didn't feel like cooking on the specific night I went there. I ordered a deluxe burger and seasoned fries to go. Yum! The waitress was so kind and efficient. It's a hometown local place, but even for my first time out of town self I felt completely welcomed. I will be back with friends!

I am so happy that I live close enough to this restaurant so I can frequent it every weekend that I wake up with a hangover (which isn't too often). This "greasy spoon" offers a great breakfast or lunch with quick service. We've always had great service and my fiance and I always order stuff that isn't necessarily on the menu, but they always make for us anyways. (A goetta and cheese omelet and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich to be exact.) I've never tried anything off the dinner menu, but if you need a good diner-type meal, I would definitely go here.

Good kid's menu options, but my son did not like the chicken tenders. This is odd because he normally likes them wherever we go. The service was good and the chili was delicious. Had a cheese and tomato sandwich and I recommend that as well. French fries were great too.

I have been here twice now and I liked it both times. The first time the service was bad. I had a cheeseburger and fries and it was good. Nothing amazing, but good and pretty cheap. The second time I came for breakfast. It was on a Sunday and there were pretty many people there but the service was good. I liked the breakfast more than the lunch. It was pretty decently priced too. Also if you come for breakfast during the week, they have specials where the price is crazy cheap. I'll have to come back then and I may need to update my rating.

Great little place. I have driven past the place for years and finally made it in today. Pretty disappointed with myself I waited so long! Monster burger and prices were very reasonable. Definitely going into my lunch rotation.
